Joint master in Alpine Ecology Alpine ecology is an academic field focusing on how abiotic and biotic factors affect the distribution and dynamics of species and populations in alpine environments. Why Alpine Ecology? The study will provide students with a better and broader understanding of present and future challenges and threats that alpine environments are facing. Through lectures and fieldwork/laboratory exercises students will acquire the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to initiate sustainable management and conservation strategies in alpine areas, and to do so in accordance with ethical and scientific guidelines. The ecology and management practices of alpine ecosystems in Norway (boreal) and Slovakia (temperate) will be highlighted.
