The certificate is issued by the Polish Register of Shipping, for the following products: Turbo Diesel, Virtual Engine Room, CBT Marine Training Software, Medium Speed Engine Room, Steam Engine Room, Engine Room Console, Medium Speed Engine Room Console. The first five are software-only training solutions; the last two include hardware consoles, which achieve greater training realism for students. Engine Room Console (ERC) is a software and hardware engine room simulator, providing the Virtual Engine Room software and a desktop console for greater training realism. Instead of using simulated controls on a computer screen, the student uses controls on the console. ERC also includes programs for hardware testing and diagnostics to make it easy for an instructor to set up and run the console. A Training Centre may be configured using several programs (dependent on PCs available), and at least one Engine Room Console.
A network installation provides instructors with better assessment facilities, because the instructor can monitor all student activities and interact with them by, for instance, sending engine telegraph orders (acting as the bridge) and introducing different faults.
